How dialysis works

Dialysis is a procedure that is a substitute for many of the normal duties of the kidneys. In the United States there are over 200,000 people who use dialysis on an ongoing basis. To better understand the kidneys function and how dialysis works, we sat down with Dr. Rodolfo Batarse of Desert Regional Medical Center in Palm Springs.
