are most influenced by their parents,
so it's really important for you to encourage your twins to be
separate people from very early on.
We know that treating your children as one unit
instead of the individuals that they actually are can create problems
with language, with behavior, and even with their relationships.
Clothing sounds superficial, but it makes a big difference.
Dressing them differently or just slightly differently
will help you and the others around you distinguish your babies,
and of course, that will help people relate to them as separate people.
For parents, time constraints are obviously the biggest hurdle,
but whenever possible make time to spend with each of your babies individually.
When they're together use eye contact with each twin
so that it's absolutely clear which one you're talking to.

ad essere individui distinti sin dal primo momento.
Trattare i tuoi bimbi come se fossero uno solo

di linguaggio, comportamentali e relazionali.
I vestiti sembrano una sciocchezza, ma invece possono avere un ruolo importante.
Vestirli in modo diverso o anche leggermente diverso
può aiutare te e gli altri a non confonderli,
e ovviamente a trattarli come persone distinte.
Per i genitori trovare abbastanza tempo è dura,
ma bisognerebbe trascorrere un po' di tempo da soli con un bimbo alla volta.
Quando sono insieme cercate un contatto visivo con ciascuno di loro
così che si chiaro con quale dei due state parlando.
