[Twins and Multiples - What can I expect from my delivery?]
In the UK, around 60% of twins are delivered by Cesarean, or C-section,
[Dr Carol Cooper, General Practitioner]
and this percentage is even higher for triplets.
For twins, your delivery depends a lot on the position of your babies in late pregnancy.
If you've reached full term and both babies are facing head down,
then with close monitoring, a vaginal birth may be possible.
In fact, your consultant may encourage it.
But bear in mind that sometimes things change during labor.
For instance, the second twin can become distressed
and need delivering in a hurry,
and that's exactly why you may be advised to have an epidural during labor
even if you're trying for a vaginal delivery.
