I enjoy the uniqueness of The Haven because of the people that work here,
and also because of the benefits that I see in the patients that come back to see me,
and they--it's a free service. It's a charity, and it does fill in a very big gap,
that is actually left by the health service at the moment.
The Haven is run by a very, very professional team--
very experienced nurses, senior nurses,
and also all the other complimentary therapists,
and they work to a very, very high standard, all evidence-based,
and they've also got the time to devote to the patients when they come,
and they see them as many times as is necessary.
And so it really does complement the conventional treatments from the hospital.
When patients develop that very positive attitude towards the treatments,
they really, really do very well. They do much better.
It's very difficult to actually scientifically say why they do that.
But it is very, very, very easy to see, when you see lots of patients with breast cancer
have their treatment, those patients with a positive attitude will do so much better
in the long term. And that positive attitude is given to them at The Haven.
